2025 Nursing Conference Grant Winning Essays

The questions for this year’s application cycle were as follows:

Essay 1:  I am committed to lifelong learning and sharing knowledge with others. I write a weekly newsletter for our team. I will include information from the conference in the newsletter and create a monthly conference spotlight. I will also share this information during our daily morning huddles by preparing brief summaries of key takeaways. These will focus on practical tips, updated clinical practices, and patient safety strategies that can be easily integrated into our daily nursing practice. Most importantly, I will direct the unit-based projects to the quality and evidence-based practice standards learned at the conference. I offer mentorship for most projects on our floor. I will utilize the newly acquired information to focus these projects and support implementing change on the floor.

Essay 2: The lessons learned from this conference will significantly benefit my nursing practice. I am presently serving as an Assistant Nurse Manager on a 36-bed, high-acuity medical/surgical floor. This conference is a national conference focused on medical-surgical topics and is tailored to my specialty area. I am committed to bringing evidence-based practices to the bedside. As a nurse leader, it is vital to incorporate current research and literature to deliver the best possible care and improve patient outcomes. Improved patient outcomes are dependent on quality and safety initiatives. I intend to utilize the knowledge gained from this conference to advocate for and participate in quality improvement projects on my unit, aiming to reduce adverse events and support continuous improvement. The newly learned information will enable the floor to refine nursing interventions, ensuring they reflect current, evidence-based standards. Furthermore, the lessons learned will contribute to the development of my leadership capabilities. I will focus on improving communication techniques to enhance collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. I will incorporate these tools to promote clearer hand-offs, reduce errors, and foster stronger teamwork.

Essay 3: During this conference, I will have the opportunity to co-present our poster presentation. It will also help me develop my leadership skills. I aspire to be the best possible nurse and leader I can be. I am passionate about improved patient outcomes. This conference will provide me with additional tools and knowledge to enhance patient care and improve our educational opportunities for the nurses on our floor. I am currently enrolled in a postgraduate certificate program for an NP license. This conference will share up-to-date information on nursing that will support me in my current program. It will allow for networking and collaboration so that I can connect with like-minded nurses, educators, and leaders and expand my network. This will allow for future collaboration, mentorship, and continued educational opportunities.
